Red Brick achieve FSA (Financial Services Authority) Authorisation

Red Brick Insurance and Financial Services Limited, sister company to Amber Estate Management Limited (AMBER), both forming part of Red Brick Holdings Limited, today achieved authorisation by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to deal in insurance related services.

Commenting on this achievement for Red Brick, Company Secretary Stephen Johnson said he believed that "to my knowledge a number of managing agents, including some high profile local competitors, continue to provide insurance related services in misguided or deliberate ignorance of the requirements of the FSA” He went on to say “As we all know, in affairs where criminal prosecution may ensue for acting illegally in regard to insurance related matters, ignorance is no defence!”

Stephen added “The board made an early decision to ensure that group companies had all necessary bases covered by putting in place and maintaining the appropriate financial resources and skill-sets to achieve FSA authorisation. Being a now well established and respectably sized business that is growing organically we are particularly proud of our FSA achievement as the group are now head and shoulders above many of its competitors. This is another great leap forward for the group, but more importantly it gives clients further financial assurances whilst also giving AMBER a further significant edge over a number of their competitors".

NOTE FOR READERS:

The FSA are an independent body that regulates the financial services industry in the UK. The Financial Services and Markets Act gives the FSA four statutory objectives:

·         market confidence: maintaining confidence in the financial system;

·         public awareness: promoting public understanding of the financial system;

·         consumer protection: securing the appropriate degree of protection for consumers; and

·         the reduction of financial crime: reducing the extent to which it is possible for a business to be used for a purpose connected with financial crime.

AMBER and ECS – A Commitment to Excellence

On 26th July 2007 AMBER reiterated its Commitment to Excellence in the provision of services for clients by the decision to continue to move forward with Estate Computer Systems (ECS) QUBE Property Management Software Solution as the backbone of its client property management, accounting and administration software.

Commenting on this decision on behalf of the Board of Red Brick Holdings, Company Secretary Stephen Johnson said “with what we know of some of our competitors systems; with what we have seen on paper in the way of reports when we have taken over competitors properties; and from what we have been told of the functionality of some of the newer systems, I am confident AMBER have made the correct long term decision. In excess of £150,000 has been committed thus far to providing I.T. systems and infrastructure in support of client business, but nevertheless the group companies remain virtually debt free. This contrasts sharply with some of our competitors, yet we are still able to provide a competitively priced ‘value for money’ property management service for our clients”. Looking further ahead Stephen said “In looking at our long term objectives, John Thumbwood, Sales Director for ECS was able to assure me that there are some great additions and functionality improvements scheduled for release over the coming months that will benefit us and our clients enormously. What we have now with ECS, and what is to come, only serve to further underline our mutual Commitment to Excellence”
